Getting Started

New to Research Guru? Here’s what you need to know about uploading, analyzing, and getting results fast.

Research Guru is an AI-powered tool that helps researchers extract structured insights from academic papers—like objectives, methods, findings, and gaps—quickly and accurately.

Go to the Analyze Research Papers page, upload one or more PDFs, choose your analysis mode (Basic or Enhanced), and submit. Results are generated within minutes.

Currently, we support text-based academic PDFs. Scanned images or locked PDFs may not process correctly.

Yes, you’ll need to create a free account. New users receive 5 free tokens to explore the platform with no credit card required.

There’s no hard limit—your analysis volume depends on your available tokens. You can top up anytime or subscribe for monthly bundles.

Analysis Mode

Understand the difference between Basic and Enhanced modes, and how to get the most from your paper analysis.

Basic analysis provides a structured summary of the paper—including title, objectives, methods, key findings, and limitations. Enhanced mode adds deep insight tailored to your research context, surfacing supporting points, counterarguments, open questions, and more.

Your research context is a short description of your topic, question, or focus area. In Enhanced mode, our AI uses this to personalize results—highlighting where a paper supports, contradicts, or connects to your goals.

Use Basic mode for fast, general summaries. Choose Enhanced mode when you want deeper analysis aligned to your own research questions—especially helpful for thesis work, proposals, or meta-analysis.

Basic analysis uses 1 token per paper. Enhanced analysis uses 3 tokens per paper because of the added depth, context alignment, and advanced insight generation.

Yes! Both Basic and Enhanced results can be downloaded in multiple formats including PDF, Word, Excel, TXT, and JSON. Batch exports are zipped for convenience.

A token is a unit of usage. One token allows you to run one Basic paper analysis. Enhanced analysis uses three tokens per paper because it provides deeper, context-aware insights.

Token prices vary depending on the bundle. The more you buy, the lower the cost per token. Prices range from $0.30 to $0.50 per token. See our Pricing & Plans page for details.

Tokens from pay-as-you-go bundles never expire. Tokens from subscriptions roll over for up to 12 months as long as your plan is active.

Yes! Subscribers can purchase top-up bundles at discounted rates without changing their monthly plan. Top-ups are great during peak periods like thesis season or deadlines.

Yes! We offer custom plans for research labs, academic departments, and institutions. These include shared token pools, usage tracking, and invoicing. Contact us to learn more.

Research Guru is operated by NewSolve Corporation, a Toronto-based software company. All payments and subscriptions are securely processed through Stripe on behalf of NewSolve.

NewSolve is the parent company of Research Guru and the legal entity handling all billing. You’ll see “NewSolve Corporation” on your receipts and payment confirmations.

Yes. Stripe will email you an official receipt after each payment. For formal invoices or institutional billing, please email us at support@researchguru.ai.

Yes. We never store your credit card or payment information. All transactions are securely handled by Stripe, which uses end-to-end encryption and PCI-compliant protocols.

Yes. You can cancel or manage your plan anytime from your account dashboard. Any unused tokens will remain valid until their expiry period (12 months for subscribers).

Privacy & Security

Your research is yours. Learn how we protect your files, respect your data, and follow responsible AI practices.

By default, no. Your uploaded files are processed and then securely deleted unless you explicitly choose to save them for future reference. You stay in control.

Never. We do not use your content to train or fine-tune any AI models. Your data is never repurposed or shared without your consent.

All files are encrypted in transit and at rest using industry-standard protocols. We host our platform on secure Microsoft Azure infrastructure with strict access controls and monitoring.

Our platform is built on RAISEF, which promotes ethical safeguards, fairness, and transparency. We don’t profile users or make inferences about who you are—just what your research needs.

Yes. You can request full account deletion at any time through your account settings or by emailing support@researchguru.ai. We’ll permanently delete your files and personal data.

Troubleshooting & Technical

Having trouble with uploads, results, or performance? Here are quick answers to the most common technical questions.

Make sure the file is a readable, text-based PDF. Scanned images, password-protected files, or corrupted documents may not process correctly. If the issue persists, contact support@researchguru.ai.

Some academic papers lack metadata or standardized structure, especially preprints or older scans. We extract what’s available and clearly flag missing information in your results.

If using Enhanced mode, ensure your research context is clearly written and specific. If issues continue, email us with the paper and context used—we’re happy to review and improve the output.

Not yet. At this time, we support text-based PDFs only. OCR support for image-based documents is on our future roadmap.

Yes—when logged into your account, you can access your analysis history and re-download past results at any time unless you've manually deleted them.

Yes! The platform is fully responsive. While it's optimized for desktop use, you can upload, analyze, and review results from most mobile and tablet devices as well.
